Casting, Fabrication, and Machining Under One Roof
Many alloy foundries send castings out for machining, which adds lead time, freight, and another vendor to manage. Wirco handles patterns, melting, static and centrifugal casting, fabrication, and CNC machining in our Indiana and Illinois facilities. Keeping the work in-house gives customers one point of accountability, tighter control over quality, and a more direct path from raw alloy to finished component.
CNC Turning
Our CNC turning centers handle cylindrical work on cast and fabricated components, including the thousands of furnace rolls we machine each year. Rolls have to run true at high temperatures, so our turning work focuses on consistent concentricity and surface finish, roll after roll.
CNC Milling
Our CNC milling equipment produces tight-tolerance features on castings and fabrications. These are the features that have to fit correctly in the customer's furnace the first time. Milling in-house lets us hold critical dimensions while keeping the part on schedule.
Machining Heat-Resistant Alloys
High-nickel and high-chromium alloys are built to hold up in the furnace, and that makes them harder to machine. They work-harden quickly, and cast alloys carry hard carbides that wear down tooling. Machining these materials well takes the right tooling, speeds, and setups for each grade, so parts come out accurate without compromising the alloy's heat and corrosion resistance.
